Fishing Reports 2017

Saltwater Fishing Report for the week ending November 20, 2010

Provided courtesy of Tyee Marine.

Cape Mudge: This is the time of year when winter Chinook fishing really gets off the ground. For most of the winter months, feeder sized Chinook hold at the lighthouse and feed on herring and needlefish. These fish can be caught with great success during favourable weather. The ebb tide is the best to fish, trolling in a northerly direction, starting near the Red Can. Smaller sized tackle offerings like Gypsy spoons and 4" Tomic plugs are best bets.

The Hump: Winter Spring fishing can be very good at the Hump. Again, use smaller Tomic Plugs, Needle Fish, Point Wilson Darts or Gibbs Minnows. Flashers are not necessary during the winter months because of superb water clarity, but if you are using a bait that requires action like a hoochie, you must use one.

Winter prawning is always good at Francisco Point, Twin Islands, and Hoskins Channel. Set your traps along a shelf near the 300' contour and use a good mix of pellets with Carlyle just tuna cat food.
